Wishes come with a terrible price.

The day Fuyuhi and Haruka entered the lake to die alongside their classmates, she held an unspoken wish within her heart.

I want to live.

As she glimpses the slashed throat of her best friend, blood constantly gushing from it, survival looks like purgatory now.

“You made a pact,” says the old woman standing behind Fuyuhi, opening the black box. “Honor-bound, become a pillar and ease her spirit.”

Sobs strangle her as she steps into the murky waters contained within, and just before the lid closes, she stares into Fuyuhi’s listless eyes.

“I’m sorry.
